Vegetarian Nasi Goreng



A delicious Indonesian fried rice dish called vegetarian Nasi Goreng is made with a combination of savory sauces and fresh vegetables. You can tailor this satisfying and adaptable meal to your personal preferences.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cooked rice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup cabbage, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce kecap manis
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste sambal oelek
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 eggs, fried optional
  • 4 tablespoons fried shallots optional
  • Sliced cucumber and tomato for garnish optional

Instructions:

In a big skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat

Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and saut until fragrant

Cook the bell pepper, chopped carrot, and shreds of cabbage until they are soft

After adding the cooked rice to the skillet, give it a good stir

Combine the tomato paste, chili paste, sweet soy sauce, soy sauce, salt, and pepper in a small bowl

After adding the sauce mixture to the rice and veggies, stir-fry them until they are well heated and coated

If desired, top with sliced cucumber and tomato, fried eggs, and fried shallots and serve hot
