This is a comforting mac 'n cheese that is cooked slowly in a crock pot. It is rich and creamy.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb elbow macaroni
- 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 1 can 12 oz evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions:
Follow the directions on the box to cook the macaroni
Then, drain it and set it aside
Melt the butter and mix it with the flour in a bowl until the mixture is smooth
This makes a roux
Put half of the cooked macaroni and half of the cheese in the slow cooker
Add more layers with the rest of the macaroni and cheese
Make a roux and pour it over the mac and cheese in the slow cooker
Add the milk, evaporated milk, salt, and pepper to a different bowl and mix them together
Then, pour the milk mixture over the macaroni mixture in the slow cooker
Slow-cook on low for two to three hours, until cheese melts and sauce gets thick
Before serving, stir it up well
